- ›Bihar Government employees are limited to 5 attempts in their entire service period for BPSC exams
- ›General candidates have no attempt limit
- ›Candidates applying for CDPO / FAO / Probation Officer must select the specific post while applying — otherwise candidature will not be considered
- ›Only one OTR (One-Time Registration) allowed per candidate on bpsconline.bihar.gov.in
- ›Live webcam photo mandatory during registration — white or light background required
- ›Additional ₹200 biometric fee applicable for candidates not providing Aadhaar

Stage 1 – Preliminary ExaminationQualifying
Objective-type screening exam to shortlist candidates for Mains. General Studies paper. Marks of Prelims are NOT counted in final merit — qualifying in nature only. Aadhaar biometric verification mandatory at exam centre.

Stage 2 – Main Examination (Written / Descriptive)
Descriptive written exam covering General Studies, optional subject (post-specific for CDPO / FAO / Probation Officer), and Hindi. Main exam marks are part of the final merit of 1020 marks.

Stage 3 – Personality Test (Interview)
Final interview stage conducted by BPSC panel. Combined marks of Main Exam + Interview form the final merit list of 1020 marks. Post / department allotment based on merit, preference, and reservation.
